FlashBack Friday: Mos Def – 9/11 “I Don’t Believe in That Boogie Man Shhhh”

Mos, aka Yasiin Bey, had some pretty valid points, but I could not hang with him in totality.  He thinks Americans had something to do with 9/11. His metaphoric stance on how people really get down in the hood was 'mos' epic, and  it sooooo true.

The rapper; turned full on activist, has been vocal on many political causes, such as  police brutality, American exceptionalism, and the state of African Americans.  What are we doing.

Where is he now you ask.  I wonder the same.  His wiki says, "In January 2016, Mos Def was ordered to leave South Africa and not return for five years, having stayed in the country illegally on an expired tourist visa granted in May 2013. Also that month, he was charged with using an unrecognized World Passport and having lived illegally in South Africa since 2014.   Mos Def had reportedly recruited Kanye West to help defend him, and posted a message on West's website announcing his retirement from show business.  There is an ongoing court case in relation to immigration offenses involving the artist and his family."

I hope his legal drama gains a moot stance.  I just don't think Kanye is thinking about fulfilling his promised to help Mos/Yashin out.  I maybe reaching by saying 'promise, but there appears to be a helping hand in there somewhere.

I miss his brilliance.
